Trifork – Humanising Technology

\nAt Trifork, we believe we can change the world with software. We think of smarter solutions that make life better and easier for everyone. With offices in 10 countries around the world, more than 700 talented employees work together with our innovative customers to achieve this mission.\n

\nOur work is centered around three main industries with a high degree of digitisation and digitalisation potentials: Digital Health, Fintech and Smart Building & IoT. We also closely follow the software trends and have a dedicated focus on three business areas that work cross many different sectors: Cloud Operations, Cloud Protection and Smart Enterprise.\n

\n

The Answer is 42

\nWe’re geeks at our core – so we’re sure you know where that pop culture reference comes from! The main culture driver at Trifork is how we are organized; small units of around 42 people give an informal and direct style of internal communication.\n

\nOur employees benefit from a wide scope of knowledge, experience and skills across the Trifork brand, while working closely with their local business units and each individual is empowered to take ownership and responsibility of their work.\n

\nCurious by nature in the potential of new technologies, we all share an interest in being first movers and engage closely with our customers and integrate them in our development process, allowing us to address any challenges head on together.\n

\nSee our work\n

\n

For developers, by developers

\nWith tech permeating just about every industry and aspect of our lives, it is our duty as developers to understand the rapidly changing ecosystem we’re a part of in order to continuously adapt, create ethical solutions and write software we can be proud of. GOTO was founded by Trifork because of our passion to inspire and be inspired!\n

\nThe GOTO Conferences are designed for team leads, architects, and project management and is organized for developers, by developers. As software developers and architects ourselves, we wanted to craft the ultimate conference. The result is a high-quality conference experience, ensuring the best content on the most important topics presented by the tech leaders in our community, in an intimate environment needed to support as much learning and networking as possible. We are always on the lookout for bright and eager students to join our GOTO Crew. Read more here.\n

\n

Trifork Academy

\nTrifork has its own academy providing hands-on training courses and workshops focused on developers in an interactive environment.\n

\nAt Trifork Academy, you will be taught by some of the industries finest specialists with courses focusing on hands-on experiences as a key part of the training/tuition. Our team have great practical knowledge as they are or have been a direct part of our development teams. However, we do also enlist speakers from the world of IT to our courses and conferences. \n
\n Meet Ayoub, Tech Lead
\n “In my everyday work, I am involved in developing software, making architectural decisions and creating project roadmaps together with the team. At Trifork, we work in these smaller teams and I prefer that! In small teams, I get to know the people I work with more personally. We do Friday Bars, we go out and actually, some of my colleagues and I have a dinner club where we invite each other to our homes for dinner. So, we’re quite close outside the workplace too. When there is a new project, I spend some time learning the technology, if it is new to me. And I always work with someone who is ‘Senior’ in that technology, so I get to learn even more. Right now, I’m working with two technologies. One of them is Apple TV, which I have never done before. And at the same time, I’m contributing to another project – working with Voice Assistants and Machine Learning to make a Smart Call Center. What motivates me at Trifork is the continuously changing projects and companies that we work with. For example, I’ve had a chance to work in different sectors, like Finance, Transportation, Insurance and now streaming services.”\n
\n \n
\n Meet Iulia, Software Pilot
\n “As a Software Pilot at Trifork, we try out new technologies to see how they work, if we can use them, and if there is anything, we can learn from them. I currently work on a project related to Machine Learning. It involves a bunch of technologies that I had never worked on before I came to Trifork. I think one of the reasons why people love working at Trifork is that we can learn so many new skills. You are never forced to learn something new, but if you have an interest, they can make it happen.\n

\nTrifork also stands out because of their culture around the number 42. You are never supposed to be more than 42 in a unit, and I find that refreshing because it helps to keep the offices smaller. It’s much easier to get to know all your colleagues and collaborate.”

What is special about Bankdata is that we are not just working on a subcomponent, we are creating a full product that, in the end, is being used by end-users. I would say that Bankdata has a very open working environment. We are always working in collaboration and I like the inclusive atmosphere in my team. Everyone is helpful and willing to share their knowledge – also across teams”\n

While I have been working in the team, we have shifted from programming with Cobol to Java mainly. I think it is great to be part of a team that’s ready for changes and open for new things. What I like the most about my job are the challenges and the responsibility I get. At Bankdata you get the opportunity to grow as a developer and to create something that is being used in the ‘real world’”\n

\nAt BESTSELLER, we are more than 17,000 people in 38 different countries working for over 20 fashion brands such as VERO MODA, JACK & JONES, and ONLY. We are a family-owned company with a strong foundation and values to build on, empowering us to think outside the box and pursue the ideas we believe in to take BESTSELLER forward.\n

\n

About BESTSELLER IT

\nBESTSELLER IT – that is 300 Developers, Product Owners, Scrum Masters, Analysts, IT Supporters, and many more with the ambition to digitize BESTSELLER’s value chain with simple and innovative solutions. We are driven by enabling our colleagues around the world to excel in what they do best: design, buy, and sell fashion. We work cross-functionally and are proud of our collaborative, international, and informal culture.\n

\nWe are on our way to becoming agile in our approach and are organized in a circle structure, spanning across Products, Customers, Operations, Retail, Business Intelligence, Workforce, Technical Engineering Services, and Frontline Support Services. We are a flat organization and our teams are empowered with end-to-end ownership for our solutions. We have implemented rapid decision-making processes and we move fast from idea to execution. This way of working together has proven to be value-adding, fun, and rewarding for us and our company.\n

\n

About Our Tech Stack

\nOur application landscape is diverse. We have a policy of selecting the best solution for the problem at hand. Therefore, we have a mix of standard systems (ie. SAP and Navision), adapted standard systems (ie. MPOS), and fully home-grown solutions (ie. our main ERP based on an Oracle stack with PL/SQL and Java). We have a best-of-breed philosophy when it comes to selecting new software. We usually choose to develop our own applications, if we believe we can add to our competitive advantage.\nWhen we are building our own systems, we often use components such as RabbitMQ, React, microservices, Kubernetes, Azure, and Google Cloud. We are open to all new technologies that can make a positive contribution to the value we create for BESTSELLER.\n

\nWe are constantly looking to improve our value contribution to BESTSELLER. Therefore, each team is constantly evaluating its tech stack and experimenting with other possible approaches that can create even more value for BESTSELLER. Through this, we have the possibility to replace and rebuild significant parts of the system landscape at any given time.\n

\n

About You

\nYou are a backend developer? Or a frontend developer? A system engineer? Your title isn’t important. Your mindset is. As a person, you have a strong desire to learn and you are open to analyzing and understanding existing systems and interdependencies. Being part of a small, agile team, it comes naturally to you to share your knowledge and to inspire and support your colleagues. You contribute constructively to team discussions, and you enjoy collaborating in building creative solutions to complex problems. With your sense for detail, you deliver quality solutions and take ownership and feel accountable for the team’s results and business impact.\n

\nWe are looking for new colleagues with a broad set of development and technical skills. You have experience in taking responsibility for the full stack lifecycle of your team’s products – from coding to understanding user requirements and anything in between (such as quality assurance, deployment or release management, application maintenance, and user support). All of the projects we are working on generate different types of tasks, and so each of them includes some research that adds diversity to our work. No two tasks are the same and I really enjoy that – it never gets boring. I enjoy my team; I have very talented coworkers so I’m learning new stuff every day. I’m the only international in my team, and that is actually pretty cool. I feel lucky that I landed in a team that is so curious about my culture, my country and myself. I first thought that the language might be a barrier, but my team is very good at switching to English when needed – I do know a little bit of Danish so they are very supportive and have a lot of patience when I ask them to talk in Danish because I really want to learn it. I feel very included thanks to them. We had the chance to customize our team name, so officially we are called ‘User Core’ but internally we are called the ‘User Squad’. When I started at Danske Bank, I was a student, and as a student, you are learning and you are sometimes hesitant, but there is always someone who encourages you and would like to hear your opinion. At Danske Bank, they trust, that we have something to offer. That resulted in both personal and technical development for me. The project I’m working on now is a login and signature solution. We authenticate and authorize costumers for other departments. It’s a great project that uses the standard protocols of OpenID Connect and OAuth2 that you may know from login with Google, Facebook, etc. There is generally a lot of trust in all the processes, and with that trust of course comes responsibility. It was interesting, that I got that responsibility from – I would say – the first days. I’ve always felt that I can contribute and that there is a lot of value in what I do. I feel really lucky that I get to work at Danske Bank, it’s a great environment, and I really see myself as part of the family. I’m working in a team where everyone can pick up the responsibility for different parts of the project, which makes us very flexible and able to deliver the right solutions faster. I think it’s great working in teams like this because everyone has different knowledge in different areas, so we complete and supplement each other’s skills very well. \n At Delegate, I am working within the Power Platform, primarily with Power Automate and Canvas apps. What is quite special about my job is that I have both hats on, the developer hat and the project manager hat. Most motivating for me is seeing customers take advantage of what we have built and to experience the whole journey from first workshops with the customer to handing over the finished product. The working environment is very transparent, we are all eager to learn from each other, regardless of which position one has. Already at the job interview, I felt I was part of a big family.\n

\n I started working at Delegate about half a year ago. Currently, I’m working on a large project for a client within the transport sector who is building completely new systems for their customers. Through business intelligence and reporting, I am making sure that their business processes run as correctly and efficiently as possible. Delegate has this very inclusive and trusting work culture that they want to enforce. It’s not just something they claim on their website – you can really feel it. In general, I think Delegate has a good attitude regarding how important the employees are to the success of the company. I am lucky to have a lot of autonomy in my job without constantly seeking permission. \n

The system is responsible for everything from charging the cars to ensuring that the end-user gets the correct bill. At Delegate, I am surrounded by a lot of very clever people who want to get the job done. Everyone has their competencies and expertise and if there is an issue there is always someone who is an expert in that specific area. I like the focus Delegate has on employee’s well-being, work-life balance, and development. \n

Jyske Bank – Taking Agile to the next level

\nJyske Bank is the second-largest Danish-owned bank. Through the fusion of small local banks in the city of Silkeborg, Jyske Bank was founded in 1967. The name, ‘Jyske’ translates to ‘Jutland’ which defines its roots, however, today the bank covers all of Denmark. Jyske Bank employs more than 3.300 employees including 450 highly dedicated development employees.\n

\n

Join the digitalization journey

\nThe financial sector in Denmark is historically a frontrunner within digitalization. In the late ’90s, Denmark’s digital development started with eBanking, which later spread out into all businesses. Jyske Bank has therefore been digital for many years and is now entering the next level.\n

\nJyske Bank is continuously looking for their next IT-talents to join the team. With or without a background within banking, the bank is welcoming all IT-professionals who are ready to contribute to their agile journey.\n

\n

Digital development vs. Personal service

\nCustomers’ expectations are constantly changing and the world we live in is getting increasingly digital and connected. The future of banking still includes bank services. However, they will be digital and different from the ones we are used to.\n

\nThe Agile Journey is pushing towards ”banking everywhere except in a bank”. However, for Jyske Bank, being close to its customers is key. Therefore, technical development must always support the costumers’ needs and wants, whilst ensuring the personal service, Jyske Bank is known for. An exciting challenge, the currently employed IT-specialists juggle every day.\n

\n

Space to grow and learn

\nJyske Bank aims to be a place where employees can develop their skills. Their development squads are built to ensure, that employees are empowered to make their own decisions. A central role in the organization is the Chapter Lead – a role dedicated to ensuring growth and development within each field and speciality. Helping employees learn new technical and leadership skills.\n

\n Meet Mads, Chapter Lead for UX Design
\n “I have been working at Jyske Bank for almost four years. Over the last three, I have established the UX design department. For me, as a design leader, it is a privilege to be working with more than ten skilled designers internally at Jyske Bank with a great diversity in skillsets, ages, and gender. We recently did a re-organizing to create autonomous squads (instead of teams) and place even more responsibility on the people working with the specific services. We are expecting a lot from this change.

The three things I enjoy most about working at Jyske Bank are:\n\n
· that asking “why” in projects is encouraged even from top-management and you have a voice no matter where you are on the ladder\n
· that I find it very purposeful to be working on digital services that people use in their everyday lives\n
· that Jyske Bank is a very social working place”

\n Meet Jette, Scrum Master and Chapter Lead for IT developers
\n “Even though I have been at Jyske Bank for 14 years, it doesn’t feel like I have had the same job for 14 years. I came into a new position or a new business area every two or three years and I have always been able to find a new challenge. Now I work with automation of our loan processes and with our recent reorganization the so-called “Chapter Lead” was introduced as a new role. As the Chapter Lead, I got the chance to work with personal development and it is exciting to be part of implementing a stronger focus on competences. One of the things I like about my job is that the people that are going to use our solutions are our colleagues. You develop the business that you are part of through your products. Moreover, I have great colleagues who are not only good at their jobs but also enthusiastic about it. We have a strong sense of community and there is always someone willing to help you”\n

We are focusing our efforts on creating a visual design system, with reusable components for other teams to use in their projects, so we create a unique and homogeneous look and feel for all the internal applications at the LEGO Group. We apply the agile software development methodology in our team and with new colleagues joining every week, it’s nice to see people’s light bulbs go up when they learn something in new and different ways as well as seeing how it benefits the team. Working in Denmark is strikingly different from other countries where I’ve worked. Here, there is a nicer, slower, more relaxed pace in terms of personal life. At work though, it is still busy – as I think is true everywhere, but the work-life balance is different here. If you want to make an impact, there is an opportunity for you to do that at the LEGO Group, but it calls for campaigning and communication skills, which for an engineer is not always a part of the professional toolbox. The LEGO Group is a very cool place to work, my team is very active in doing stuff together, so working feels like hanging around with your friends. On Fridays, we have breakfast together before work, and we also love playing table football against each other, so we spend quite some time there. The managing team is also very open to let you sign up for cool events, such as hackathons, and courses so that you learn or improve on different skills! The tasks are also very exciting, and your participation in decision-making is always appreciated, which encourages you to get the best out of each one of us working together, and I think that is very impressive when you have worked for such a short time in the company. Fun fact: we have a two-day introduction program, and one of the activities is that you visit the house, where the LEGO Group started. It is now a museum, and you can see every single LEGO®-set that has ever been built. That is a super cool way to start because you can bring family and friends as well.”\n

I actually started in the warehouse as a picker and after working as a User Access Coordinator, I made my way up to being an Infrastructure Engineer. My main area of responsibility is identity and access management. I am automating all the user accesses based on clearly defined criteria. Depending on which part of Salling Group people work in, I’m making sure they get the correct access. I always have to be up to date, for example we recently bought Tesco Poland, and we now need to implement this together with Netto Poland. There are always new things happening. You never get bored. There is a great degree of dynamism in our tasks at Salling Group. Some days you could be concentrating on documentation whereas another day would be fixing issues the end users are facing. There are a lot of possibilities for self-improvement and development at Salling Group. In my department, we have the opportunity to temporarily move to another team to gain knowledge and experience. I like that you can choose your tasks, you get responsibility, flexibility and also the space to say, ‘I can’t do this, I need help’. It is a healthy work environment where colleagues respect each other and appreciate diversity”\n

\n Meet Kirstine, Test Engineer
\n “I’m working both as a software tester, test manager and release manager. On my project, I’m working with library solutions used in schools and public libraries. I’m involved in test activities throughout our test- and release process. So, as a tester in Systematic, you are involved in all stages of the software development and importantly you are an integrated part of the software development team. You are a part of design and review, you give your input and considerations, talk to developers about what should be tested and how, and determining if you have the need for specific test data or test environment. I find it very inspiring working together with so many people of different educational backgrounds, as we do here in Systematic. I think we have different mindsets, competences and different focus-areas and bringing that together is a really good strength. When you are working as a software tester, you sometimes are few or the only tester in your project but here in Systematic, you have a knowledge network, where you can get together and help each other and share ideas from your local project. One of the things I really love is that every year, Santa visits Systematic. You can bring your family, and it’s really cozy and such a friendly atmosphere. My children actually thought that I worked with Santa, because every time they came to visit me, he was there”\n

\n Meet Simon, Machine Learning Specialist
\n “I’m currently involved in two projects with Applied Machine Learning. One of them is called DABAI – here we create a tool that helps the hospitals get an overview of how many patients they have in each ward and helps them communicate between the wards. We are also building predictive models on top of that, so they can estimate how many people will be in the specific ward. The other project is building recommendations for libraries. Here we use the history of the books borrowed by each individual, to suggest new books they might like. We have a lot of international employees, but also the background of everyone working here is quite diverse. We have several colleagues with domain expertise like experience from the military, nurses, and doctors apart from a lot of software developers, so if you’re working on, for instance, one of our health care products, then domain experts from the industry have a very special role in how we develop that product. The diversity and differences of other cultures are always fun to experience. Not that long ago a big part of our team actually flew to Rumania for a wedding because our Rumanian colleague was getting married. Our CEO and owner, Michael, his thoughts and personality are also very defining for how Systematic works and one of his key points is that he would rather educate people and risk them leaving, than not educating people and risk them staying. So, we have quite a lot of resources towards education, and most of this, you manage yourself, so again there is a high level of flexibility and trust.”\n

\n “I work in the healthcare domain as a full stack developer and have been working with security-related and data privacy features. Right now, I’m working on an important migration of our applications, making it more modern, robust and efficient for the Cloud Native world. We have our main headquarters in Aarhus, and we also have offices around the world. So, it is great to get to know different cultures and different perspectives because together we can grow, both as an individual but also as a company. In general, at a company level, we work with the SCRUM-process, so we have teams of about 8-10 people of developers, a tester, a product owner and a SCRUM-master. For development, we use the feature-driven development process. This gives a clear structure to follow, which makes it easy to approach software development in Systematic, but at the same time, we have a lot of freedom in our everyday work and how we plan and solve our tasks. During the year, we have different events organized by The Systematic Employees Club, like parties, Friday bars, sports events, etc. and several times they have surprised us with pop-up events and gimmicks. I remember last summer; we were at lunch when we heard music coming from an ice-cream truck. It was a very hot day, why some nice, cold ice-cream was a really good surprise.”\n
